Moved

We moved to our mini office last night. Then worked till 4 or 5am. My wife likes the mini office since it is bright with white light and more conducive to working. Our monitor tree is so cool! I am getting used to this wide screen monitor/TV. I find it a little bright.

greenhills day

This afternoon, i woke up later than scheduled at 1:40pm. I had time to feed my baby, eat lunch and take a shower before leaving the house. I went to greenhills to setup my PO box there. I encountered a rude armored car guy and this guy from BDO who felt really brave talking behind my back but when i confronted him, he cowered. Dennis, you yellow livered swine, you'll still hear from me ;) Anyway, after paying for my PO box, i went to buy the equipment for the office. I got a nice 4 arm monitor bracket, 3 LED TVs 23", and the CCTV camera we need. Then i went back to greenhills to have my wife's phone fixed, buy this cream for her, and check out our status with fitness first. On the way home, i bought some gas for the generator. I was so hungry when i got back. Luckily, food was ready. After dinner, i started setting up our monitors. Now, i cant wait to settle down in our new home office.

We decided, btw, to setup a home office in the guest house across the hall because Elyza is always short on time. Given that, i figured that it would be best to not go back to the office yet so that 1) we can be near our son 2) we wont expose our son to the staff who oftentimes show up coughing 3) Elyza can work without having to dress up, blow dry and all that.

to be great

It is hard to be great in the eyes of those who live with you.

SM sugar cane juice

The other day, we bought sugar cane juice at SM Makati. It was freshly squeezed and tasted good. Today, we went to SM Hypermart at tiendesitas. The lady said that the bottled juice was fresh, just frozen. In the car, we tasted it and it tasted funky. Lesson: dont buy the bottled juice when you can get it freshly squeezed.

olive oil

I cooked a dish earlier with prawns, fettucini pasta, zucchini and thyme. It tasted so-so. There were a lot of olive oil used so there was a lot left over. I decided to use that oil to cook the cream dory fillets that our help prepared. The fillets tasted wonderful! Now all i have to do is to reproduce the oil without having to cook the pasta ;)

Busy Doctor

Recently, my wife showed jaundice. It is the yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. I assessed the situation and looked for more symptoms and figured out that the problem was her current medicine which increased her liver enzymes. Just to be sure, we went to a doctor referred by her sister. We told him the symptoms before asking if it could possibly be her medicine and he immediately dismissed it because he "has not yet encountered a case like that so it is impossible." I immediately didn't like him because it doesn't mean that if you didn't see it happen, it doesn't mean that it is impossible to happen. He also does not know that the drug she was taking had a rare side effect of exactly what i suspected, increased liver enzymes. He ordered this 3 thousand pesos set of tests. The next day, we went back and he was so puzzled that it was showing elevated liver enzymes but no signs of his suspected infection. Mind you, he prescribed more of the drug i figured out was the culprit. Of course i told my wife not to take them. After ordering more tests (costing 9000 pesos) he had the gall to bill us another 500 for the consultation. I went along with it to give my wife some peace of mind even though my asking her to stop taking the medicine produced the result of normalization of her urine and lessened jaundice. The second set of tests came out to be negative (which supports my diagnosis) and i told her not to go back to that doctor because he will just be as dumbfounded as the last meeting and might order more tests and bill us again for nothing.

I later found out that this doctor was focusing more on his business. This explains why he doesn't know about the side effects of the drugs he prescribes. He was probably one of those doctors who went into medicine thinking about money and not about helping people. Later on, he realized that there wasn't a lot of money in philippine medicine so he got discouraged but it was too late for him to change careers.

Anyway, i almost want to go back just to see what he will do next given that his "impossible event" is the only thing that explains my wife's symptoms and lab results.
